Asset Allocation

VNH’s investment portfolio reflects a disciplined dynamic asset allocation approach considering the following global and local megatrends:

Multipolar World
Shift of economic power towards the Asian emerging markets and inter-dependencies between the local and other regional economies

Foreign Direct Investment
A key driver of Vietnam’s economic growth and development for some time to come

Domestic Consumption
The rise of a new middle class

Demographics and Urbanization
Driving consumer behavior and workforce availability in dominating industries

Agriculture
Constrained global supply and increasing domestic demand will have a major impact on Vietnam

Logistics
Key for the country’s ability to digest high economic growth

Sustainability
Influencing consumer and corporate behavior in Vietnam, putting greater pressure on society to manage rapidly increasing environmental pollution, as well as industry’s over-reliance on the exponential growth of energy supplies.

As of June 30, 2011 approximately one third each of VNH’s portfolio were i) in the agricultural sector and ii) focused on domestic consumption. These two main asset allocations spread across several industries.  Our conviction portfolio is periodically reviewed and re-balanced to reflect changing market trends, earnings expectations and valuations.
